About the Author: Fr. Stephen De Young is the author of God Is a Man of War and Religion of the Apostles from Ancient Faith Publishing. He is the pastor of Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church (Antiochian) in Lafayette, Louisiana, and holds a PhD in Biblical Studies from Amridge University. He hosts The Whole Counsel of God podcast and co-hosts the The Lord of Spirits podcast on Ancient Faith Radio. He is also the author of the The Whole Counsel blog on the Ancient Faith Ministries website.

Excellent book of an excellent scholar

Fr Stephen the Young has a deep knowledge of the scripture and his context. I appreciate very much his contribution of the Lord of Spirits

very needed introduction

An excellent book and a very needed introduction to the Bible, not only for the English-speaking audience and not only for those belonging to the Orthodox Church. My only concern is the lack of sufficient references to substantiate the claims made in the text. I understand that the author's intention is not to provide a thesis, but sometimes the reader needs to know where one claim or another comes from, especially regarding a topic that might require us to be apologetic contra heretics.

Excellent Introduction

An excellent introduction to reading the Bible. It covers the contents and composition of the Bible and gives a guide how to read it in it’s own context and the context of the Church. I hope Father de Young follows up with additional more in-depth volumes.
